Taking A Look At The 2020 Engagement Statistics

With just limited shopping time due to the regulations to control the pandemic that has been with us throughout the year, love birds had to show their creative sides in 2020. Here are some statistics collected from 5,000 individuals who got engaged between April and November, according to The Knot.

Proposals were quite different in 2020

Almost half of those who proposed asked the question one month after they began planning. Compared to 2019, those who proposed asked within six months after they started to plan. COVID-19 made planning in advance a bit harder this year.

Round stones and white gold are still the favorites

The most popular center stone cut remained the round stones, by 43%. The square and oval stones followed respectively.

The most popular metals were: white gold (48%), yellow gold (16%). The rose gold and platinum each had 13% popularity.

Couples are not waiting to get married

Despite the pandemic, 66% of those who got engaged went into wedding plans a month later, compared to 57% in 2019. 71% of those surveyed are planning to get married in 2021.
